Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) are required for some projects. Oman's Environment Authority has 3 different permitting categories: Category A, Category B, and Category C. Category A projects always require an EIA, Category B projects only require an EIA if they are not located in the areas managed by the Public Authority of Industrial Estates / Freezones / Ports, and Project C categories only require EIAs if notified to do so by the Environment Authority (i.e. done on a case-by-case basis). The Environment Authority of Oman may require that your project obtains a Climate Affairs License depending on how large your GHG emissions are for the project. To obtain this, your EIA might require a more detailed Climate Affairs Chapter (Form #1) and then yearly your company will have to submit an annual GHG Report (Form #6). The Environment Authority requires companies to report on their Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions as well as their consumption of Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) substances.
